Cutting cost with inventory
management

 

Challenge:

A regional real estate firm with over 80 branches located in Connecticut supplies printed collateral to all it's branches. The corporate office creates the marketing materials, has them printed and distributes them to each of their locations. Their inventory was conventionally managed and in disarray. Their vendor did not have control over inventory levels and reorder points creating waste and increased costs.

 

Solution:

Once awarded the business, Velocity took possession of the existing inventory, organized it and placed all the marketing items into a "web ordering" site with thumbnail views of each product and a virtual inventory count on each. The individual offices were then given the ability to order the material on line, with the headquarters receiving an automatic release email for approval prior to shipping. With this automated system their headquarters receives automatic reorder notifications via email as well as a monthly summary report showing which products were ordered and by which branch office. This online inventory system has
eliminated the waste and excess labor created by the previous system.
